Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Tip (the “Service”), operated by Taisei Izawa, a sole proprietor in Japan (“we”, “us”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Tip lets a recipient receive voluntary tips from supporters through a personal QR code or link. Payments are processed by Stripe. We are not a bank, do not hold user funds, and are not a party to the relationship between a sender and a recipient.
2. Fees
A platform fee of 10% of each tip is deducted automatically and is displayed before payment. Stripe's processing fees are included in this platform fee. We may change the fee with prior notice; changes never apply retroactively.
3. Payments and payouts
Tips are paid directly to the recipient's connected Stripe account (Stripe Connect Express). Identity verification, payout timing, and account eligibility are governed by Stripe's terms, including the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. We cannot release, freeze, or reverse funds outside Stripe's processes.
4. Nature of tips; refunds
Tips are voluntary gratuities, not payments for goods or services, and are non-refundable, except (a) where required by law, or (b) in cases of unauthorized card use. Refund requests must be sent to the contact address below within 30 days of payment.
5. Eligibility
Recipients must be 18 or older and able to hold a Stripe account in a supported country. Senders must be able to lawfully use their payment method.
6. Prohibited use
You may not use the Service for: unlawful purposes; money laundering or disguising the origin of funds; tipping yourself with your own cards to abuse card rewards or credit; soliciting tips under a false identity; or any activity that violates Stripe's Prohibited Business list.
7. Recipient responsibilities
Taxes on tips are the recipient's sole responsibility. The Service provides history and CSV export for reference only; nothing in the Service is tax, legal, or accounting advice. Recipients are also responsible for complying with their employer's or venue's policies on accepting tips.
8. Content
Senders may attach a short note to a tip. Notes must not contain unlawful, threatening, or harassing content. We may remove notes that violate this section.
9. Disclaimer and liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the Service is limited to the platform fees we received from you in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for acts or omissions of Stripe or card networks.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or where required by Stripe, card networks, or law.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced on the Service at least 7 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Toyama District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance.
